Pilgrim Nazarene Academy students enjoyed a field trip to the Red River on the Friday before Labor Day weekend. They were able to see the locks and dams. Many comments were made about the great time they had. Thanks to all the adults who tagged along and made this a fun time for our kids!

Our 2011 Banquet was awesome! Students were excited about the New York City Theme! Two teams were chosen! They were assigned the job of creating and acting out a skit that was set in New York City. It had to have some type of Christian Message portrayed. Three judges were chosen and judged according to the above guidelines. The team that was chosen was Trent’s team. Congratulations Trent, Erica, Tyler, Chloe, Luke, Abby, Ben, and Sara!

The 7-12 grade students who did a good job of turning in Science Project materials on time got to enjoy a lunch at Sam’s Seafood Eatery. They had a good time and had more than enough food. When they returned to school, they enjoyed a long break. Several of them mentioned that they had an awesome day.

We’ve been having breaks inside lately. The kids always love silent ball, so that’s what they play. Silent ball…..silent ball…..silent ball……

I got tired of silent ball. So, with some reluctance, they played the invisible football game we played last year some. This game requires a little concentration at counting leg taps. They ended up having an awesome time……some at Aaron’s expense. He ended up in jail many times. To get out of jail, he and a few of his peers had to do some pretty interesting things!

The 100th day of School!

Even the “big kids” wanted to get involved in the 100th Day Activities. They did 100 exercises, came up with ideas to show 100 things, and created Math problems equal to 100. Some even wore 100 things or brought 100 things to share. What fun!

Alex brought a collection of 100 cars and trucks. We counted them in groups of 10.

We counted 100 blocks in groups of 10, made shapes, and repeated patterns.

We counted fruit loops in groups of 10 and arranged in patterns.

We made a 100 link chain. We also read the story Miss Bindergarten’s 100th Day in Kindergarten and so much more.

PNA students presented Arrest these Merry Gentlemen on two different nights this year. They did an outstanding job and received many positive remarks. One lady stated that she was blessed during the students’ presentation and was amazed at the wonderful job these kids did. To God be the Glory!

Last Thursday, students wore purple to school in memory of Courtney Burnette who lost her life to cancer on October 31, 2010. We continue to pray for her family daily. May God continue to wrap His GREAT BIG ARMS around them.

Election Day!!!

Registered students voted at the polls on Friday morning after the debate the previous Wednesday evening. Their votes were counted from the back where Sister Linson recorded all the pushes of the levers after the bell was rung….except for Zach’s since he isn’t a registered student at PNA.

We then made a video of our results as presented by KPNA News. Maddie and Corey did a good job of presenting election results. Ashlan and Ashlyn were at the Campaign Headquarters of both candidates to hear their reactions to the election results.

Luke was elected president of PNA with a 1 vote lead. Congratulations to both campaigns for a job well done.

A Presidential Debate!

Recently, Presidential Candidate Trent and his Vice-Presidential Running Mate, Aaron debated their competition…..Luke and his Vice-Presidential Running Mate, Erica. They gave an outstanding debate.

Afterwards, we all enjoyed delicious refreshments.

We also enjoyed hearing what our Kindergarteners and Spanish students have learned. Great job, kids.

I didn’t have my camera with me on the front bench, so I didn’t get any pictures during the debate. If I get any pictures, I will post them….

An Indoor Break!

Unfortunately sometimes we have to have breaks inside due to weather. Our kids seem to enjoy staying in from time to time. They all chose to play the parachute game. They had a good time doing so.

Recently, Mr. Lear taught our kids a self defense class. Trent invited him to come and speak as part of Trent’s campaign to be school president. The students thoroughly enjoyed their lesson.

We went fishing for a tournament to find out how much money we earned. We counted out our pennies. The wind on that boat really blew Sara’s hair. :)

We counted our goldfish and put them in a pond. Mmmmm. We couldn’t hardly keep them out of our mouths.

Our students were recently busy trying to get votes for the primary held at Pilgrim Nazarene Academy. They worked hard bringing in guests to help them capture a vote or two. They also brought in plenty of treats. We had nachos, chocolate chip cookies,and snow cones from the snow cone truck. Trent and Luke are the candidates for the Presidential Election to be held soon. We will be having a debate on October 3, 2010. Please invite your family and friends to attend.

PNA students are on a mission to earn the votes of their peers! They want to be president of PNA. Flyers and posters have been handed out readily. The Norwood/Newsom campaign passed out sunglasses. Chloe’ went home with a headache and came back to an office full of kind wishes. Maybe we should have a campaign everyday.

Our 9th and 10th graders are doing a great job in Spanish. They just completed their 1st test. All of them made an A or a B. Wow! I’m impressed. They are having a great time taking it together. As you can see, they are really enjoying their conversation time. They are very competitive so they try to say as much as they can so they can mark themselves a point.

PNA students were excited last Wednesday when the snow cone truck rolled into our parking lot. They sure impressed the vendors. The owner told Joel that his wife couldn’t get over how well behaved yet excited our kids were. That sure makes this teacher proud. :)

The kids who earned the most were Hannah and Luke for selling over $1200. Good Job kids!

Ashlan and Lauran came in 2nd selling over $800. 00.

Trent came in 3rd selling over $500.00.

The kids did a great job selling Rada knives. The money raised will help pay for their award’s banquet and end of the year field trip.

100th Day of School!

Grandma Gertrude and Grandpa….They’ve been around for a hundred years. Gertrude thinks she’s never seen snow like we’ve had here since the Revolutionary War. She was a little confused….It comes with her age.

Another Grumps and Grandma. …. Grandma is suffering from a little runny nose.

A hundred hearts for the Saints….and a hundred puzzle pieces for her hat….

Math Challenge…

A hundred candy hearts……..well 200 from the Eguias!

How about a 100 noodles from Luke….Where? On his hat!

Or a hundred ribbons from Hannah.

Whose team won the Geography bowl? Well, Chloe’s team pulled ahead with 495 points.

As you can see, PNA students enjoyed celebrating the hundredth day of school. Enjoying the snow….made it even more fun. School was dismissed at noon. But due to difficulty in concentrating, we stopped at 11 am to compete in a geography bowl for which many had prepared.

100% on an Algebra Semester Exam!

Well, we’ve had students who have made some amazing 100% scores. But we had one who scored a 100% on an Abeka Algebra Semester Exam, and she made her teacher pretty proud. Good job, Maddie !

Her teacher was so impressed that she gave her 4 points for the merit store, a You Rock card, 2 treats from the candy jar, a nice cozy chair for the afternoon, and allowed Trent (his idea) to run home to get 2 large trophies to place above her desk. I think her classmates were equally impressed.
